On a wild and wet September night
Sherlock Holmes gave Watson's pipe a light
And began to tell there as they sat
The tale of a giant Sumatran rat
Twas a terrible tale and the doctor's hair
Stood on end as Holmes laid his soul bare
At the end the detective gave a sigh
And commenced to speak slowly by and by

'It would be no exaggeration to say
That I carry the scars with me to this day'
So saying he dropped his trousers down
To reveal teeth marks the size of a half crown
And that was the end of the stirring tale
Though the wind and rain still blew in a gale
Sherlock Holmes and Watson sat up late
Smoking pipes and pondering the ways of Fate.

17. The Giant Sumatran Rat
(Heikkilä - McGowan) Must have been very painful to Sherlock Holmes. -- Jore

It's good to have Holmes & Watson on a BMB album. I was a member of The Sherlock Holmes Society of London for over 20 years - until I suddenly realized I knew more about a fictional character than I knew about myself. --Davy
